Pro-Athlete Approved LIT AXIS Is An Entire Gym That Fits In Your Carry-On

One of the trickiest parts of traveling is maintaining a solid fitness routine. Though hotels can have gyms, it's not always guaranteed that they will have what you need. Plus, if you're following a regimen at home, it can be challenging to translate that into a jet-setting lifestyle. So, one couple decided to change that by creating the LIT AXIS, the world's first smart, portable, fully connected resistance fitness system (no electricity or wifi required).

Launched by LIT Method and backed by Jay-Z, MLB Adrian Gonzalez, design guru Rachel Zoe and L.A. Rams' Bobby Wagner, LIT AXIS, is the first-ever data-driven resistance training system that fits in the palm of your hand. You get over 350 exercises—Pilates, cardio, recovery, and more—with live and on-demand low-impact, total body training. Essentially, it's an entire gym that fits in your carry-on.

"When people travel, I think the first thought they have about exercise is, 'What machines will be available where I'm going,'" Justin Norris, co-founder of LIT, told me. "You do not need a machine for a full fitness experience. You need metrics. AXIS is smaller than the size of your hand — and it replaces your cable system, suspension trainers, weights, and more."

So, how does it work? First, the product utilizes a revolutionary left-right approach to track each axis of movement in the body to correct muscle imbalances and prevent injury. Then, its patented smart locking resistance adjusts up to 200 pounds (via three resistance bands) allowing for progression while the size replaces cable systems, free weights, bulky power racks, suspension trainers, etc.

Every LIT AXIS comes with a universal anchor that gives you the flexibility to attach it to any door or bedpost. Plus, many exercises just involve you holding the bands with your foot or hand. With Bluetooth connectivity, AXIS connects to the LIT Method app and can be broadcasted to any smart device. So, you can access hundreds of live and on-demand classes across multiple modalities like strength training, Pilates, cardio, recovery, and more.

"AXIS is a portable, premium data-driven experience. And because of that, you don't need to look for the nearest gym," added Taylor Norris, co-founder of LIT. "In fact, you don't need more than 1.5' by 1.5' to do strength, cardio, Pilates, and injury prevention. This compact, connected device needs no cords, no charging, and no maintenance — and provides metrics that empower you to make the most of wherever you are."

Though the system is designed for anyone, some pro athletes are already fans. That's thanks to the compact and effective nature of the product. For example, L.A. Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner and MLB's Adrian Gonzalez love that they get quality metrics to ensure they're mirroring their reps, resistance loads, and time under tension in a left-right, injury-proof approach.

"The hardest part about training while traveling is finding one piece of versatile equipment that really does it all," Wagner told me. "Until AXIS, I've not had one piece of portable fitness equipment that consolidates all the equipment I use. As a result, I essentially have an entire gym in the palm of my hand — and one that doesn't require electricity, charging, or more than two square feet of space to get the job done."

Gonzalez agreed, adding, "I think one of the biggest challenges is having access to continuous data. You don't want to lose track of your progress at home. I can see my reps, resistance loads, and time under tension with AXIS. In addition, the Symmetrical Strength Training tech detects muscle imbalances and shows me when I'm over or undertraining in a certain part of my body. These are premium metrics streamlined in one dashboard and device I can throw in my bag."

The LIT AXIS ($199 or financed for as low as $5 a month) starter pack includes a pair of AXIS Smart Sensors that pair with any device via Bluetooth, two pairs of adjustable resistance trainers (0-60LBS and 30-100LBS), a pair of handles, ankle cuffs, universal anchor, carrying case, and three months of complimentary online access to the LIT Training app.
